Hello; I'm a new user of your software, loaded on an Asus RT-N16. So first of all, thank you for sharing your work with the user community!
I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but unlike others on your forums, I find often the router quite slow and unresponsive, and I'm not sure why.
I'm hoping you can point some key areas which matter most, and I should correct.
I'm attaching a few snapshots from my router for quick reference.
My setup:
- an USB laser printer connected to it.
- an external ide hdd (ide to usb adapter)
- NFS enabled (to be able to transfer content from hdd to another pc)
- BT enabled with UI and authentication; if I enable more than 2 downloads at a time, the router becomes unresponsive for the web interfaces (both the main admin, and BT admin)
- BW monitor doesn't save the information - I cannot see 24h or longer reports; real time graphs work
- VPN enabled - but I have not managed to use it yet
- FTP server enabled - but I found it very slow (tried to connect from outside my home and get something from my usb drive). My upstream limit is 1Mbps, donwstream 15Mbps)
I can't think of anything else for the moment. For the basic fw, QoS, print server and BT download (w/ the limitation mentioned), everything appears to work just fine. I'm not sure if the router/cpu can really run all the other features reliably in the same time.
Please comment on my experience. Thank you!

On main page you can find CPU load measurements. Could you run all features which you previously mentioned and show us result?
This will be just a aditional information about your case.
You can also find out where is the problem by disabling functions one by one.
How many users you have? The problem could be also on the P2P side (a big number of simultaneous connections).
What kind of file system you have on your HDD? (NTFS provides additional load for CPU - it is much better to have ex2/ext3).
I'm not a specialist but I think that you can check this out.
/edit:
I've just found out that some of my points are available on yours pictures.. So according to:
1. CPU load: When you prepare this screenshot did you have all things enable? Because as you can see value which you have is almost 1 (that is mean that utilization of yours CPU is almost 100%!)
2. HDD file system: Thats is clear for me now - ext3
3. BW monitor: After changing path one should click create new file and save this tab (system has to create new file in order to store the data in it)
Anyway could you try to load/overload your device? And prepare new pictures with CPU load.
After that you can try to disable some of the features, and check which function consumes most of the CPU time.

1) Welcome
2) Dont use swap. RTN16 has 128MB RAM. You dont need swap. (when you have swap active, hdd spin down doesnt work).
3) turn off no used modules (fat, ntfs).
4) HDD you have mounted to /tmp/mnt/sda1 well you should use this path to bw save history, ftp, nfs, transmission etc...

first of all you need to clear your browser cache - i had the same issue with bwmonitor in tomato from shibby-after that all working great...
Hello to All and thanks for "jumping" on my case right away!
I'll do all the suggested checks and balances, and will come back with the results. I will be quiet for a while however, going on vacation, and being away.
Relative to the question regarding utilization: I can swear the load went at some point over 1 (which doesn't make much sense, I think, unless it is not a direct correlation 1 <-> 100%). When that happened the router was mostly unresponsive. Since I have not really monitored that closely, I will pay attention to it as well.
One new thing which just happened in the last couple of days: the wan link with the cable modem has dropped from 1GB to 100Mb (the Docsis modem LED changed the color from blue, to yellow. A cold reset of the modem didn't change it back. I believe I rebooted the router as well, and that didn't help either. I don't know if that is an indication of anything new.
Before using shibby's version of the firmware, I used Viktek RAF, sort of an all in one as well. And I believe the connection to the modem stayed always blue. But I experienced always that same slowness, mostly when downloading 2+ torrents. and an unstable GUI in transmission. Which led me to try this one. No complaints... You guys are fantastic to do so much work for the community!
Anyway, I'll keep checking and will let you know what else I find. Thanks again!

Światłowód + mediakonwenter. Ekranowana skrętka nie jest wymagana, taką sytuację już zastałem. Zamierzam ją wymienić na zwykłą. Da to coś?

a ta skrętka ekranowana o której piszesz to jakiś wkopany przewód do bramy/furtki/kamer y zewn? Jak tak to jego też przez zabezpieczenie podepnij.

no to pora zabezpieczyć kable LAN zabezpieczeniami przeciwprzepięciow ymi - tanio nie będzie. Jak przychodzi ci internet? Skrętką czy światłem? Jak skrętką to zacząłbym od tego.

Ponownie padły mi wszystkie porty sieciowe w routerze - to już 3-ci w 6 m-cy. Podejrzany to ekranowana, nieuziemiona skrętka - 12mb. Czy jest to możliwe?
